Managing Director & Solicitor
Andrew is the founder and driving force behind Harrogate Family Law. An experienced divorce and family lawyer, he worked for many years as a family law solicitor in a large, award-winning national firm before establishing Harrogate Family Law.
Andrew is recognised as one of the region’s leading matrimonial/family solicitors. He is singled out for praise year after year by the prestigious Chambers legal directory, including being named by Chambers as the region’s leading specialist solicitor in family law since 2013. Andrew is also recognised by the Legal 500 directory as a leading solicitor, with one client describing him as being “extremely kind and understanding“.
Andrew is a past regional chairman of Resolution and is committed to resolving cases out of court where possible. He is also experienced in identifying cases that require litigation. He is specially trained in Collaborative Law. Andrew is also the only solicitor in Harrogate accredited as a Resolution specialist in the maximum three areas of family law.
His particular specialisms are:

- Emergency injunctions in financial and property matters

Partner & Chartered Legal Executive
Carol qualified as Legal Executive in 1994. She was one of the first family lawyers to be accredited as a Family Law Specialist by Resolution in 2000. She has been involved in Resolution at national level since 2009 sitting on the Standards Committee which is responsible for promoting standards and good practice within the family law profession.
She has 28 years’ experience in family law previously working for large regional law firms in York and Grimsby.

Carol can help whether resolving the children and financial arrangements at the end of a relationship or formalising an agreement at the outset. She can also help with protecting assets and personal protection.
As a committed member of Resolution Carol is dedicated to helping clients resolve family law issues constructively and with dignity. She will endeavour to resolve the arrangements outside of the Court process but can identify when litigation is needed and will conduct that litigation effectively to achieve the best results.

Emma graduated with a first class Law degree from York University with the best marks in her year, before completing her training in York at a regional law firm. She then joined us upon qualifying as a solicitor.
What can she do for you?
Emma helps and advises married and unmarried clients who are going through a separation with resolving their financial arrangements and arrangements for any children. She is particularly interested in helping clients to protect their assets prior to relationship breakdown and advises on cohabitation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
Emma is an integral part of the Harrogate Family Law Team and assists both partners with a full range of complex and high value cases and deals with less complex cases herself.
Emma is known for her straightforward advice and ability to find practical solutions that meet her clients’ needs. She approaches matters sensitively, with a view to resolving them quickly and as amicably as possible.
Laura enjoyed a highly successful academic career at Durham University from where she graduated and also received the David Brookes Memorial Prize for her dissertation on domestic violence.
Laura was also awarded the prestigious Cohen Scholarship from BPP Law School where she has recently completed her studies for her Legal Practice Course.
