Carol Jessop

As a team, we’ve been shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of our colleague, and very dear friend, Carol Jessop.

Carol was a part of the Harrogate Family law team for many years, and to say that we will miss her immensely is an understatement.  Her professionalism, dedication and warmth of character will be the things we treasure, as we continue to build on everything that she achieved for our firm

In times like these, it can be difficult to know what to say. As such, we wanted to reflect on some of the wonderful things Carol achieved, both professionally and personally.

A difficult challenge to raise funds for charity

In July, Carol completed a 26 mile trek across the North Yorkshire Moors to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. We were in awe of her achievement, given that she completed the trek in 9 hours and 35 minutes.

She managed to smash her fundraising target for a cause that was very close to her heart. We were so proud of her.

A champion of alternate dispute resolution

Whilst Carol never shied away from doing what needed to be done when it came to positive outcomes for her clients, she was also a firm believer in exploring ways to resolve disputes between couples without the need for the court’s intervention, particularly in cases involving children.

This was an approach valued by the clients she worked with, and her ability to navigate complex legal matters with a calm and friendly attitude was just one of the reasons why so many chose to work with her.

A true team player

Carol wasn’t just valued by her clients, she was valued by her entire team. She was the first to congratulate us on our successes, and always there to help when help was needed.

Carol loved to nurture those who were at the start of their legal careers, and our trainees have benefitted so much from her can-do attitude and fun-loving spirit. To put it in her own words, Carol loved the energy and enthusiasm that new team members brought with them, and she enjoyed being a part of helping them to succeed and be happy in their chosen career path.

This is a very difficult time for our team, but we will be doing our very best to follow in Carol’s footsteps as we remember her with love and happiness. She will forever be in our hearts, and never ever forgotten.
