2024 has been another fantastic year of growth for us at Harrogate Family Law. Our team has achieved a lot this year – personally and professionally, and we can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for our firm.

As we prepare to enjoy the New Year celebrations, we first want to reflect on the year gone by, and all the things we have to be grateful for.

Harrogate Family Law is once again listed in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK

To be recognised by these two prestigious bodies is a testament to the expertise, legal acumen and sheer dedication our team brings to their profession.

Andrew Meehan (Band 1: Family/Matrimonial) and Laura Mounsey (Up and Coming: Family/Matrimonial) were individually highlighted in the Chambers UK guide, meaning they’ve shown particular aptitude and skill in their fields. We’re very proud of them both!

We’d also like to congratulate all the other firms and solicitors selected for these publications. We have a wonderful network of peers and professionals for whom we’ve always had enormous respect.

Laura’s commitment to helping those experiencing domestic violence

Harrogate Family Law partner Laura Mounsey has been working tirelessly in her free time to tackle what has been declared the ‘national emergency’ of domestic violence.

As you can imagine, this is a subject that the whole team is very passionate about, having supported many people through a divorce or separation from an abusive partner. Having one of our team members involved in this cause is something to be supported and encouraged.

Laura has been working closely with the High Sherriff of Yorkshire, the local justice board, the Crown Prosecution Service, the police, and local authorities to determine how we can create long-term, positive change in this area.

We’re constantly learning from Laura’s in-depth knowledge of narcissistic behaviour. It’s a valuable part of our toolkit when helping people in abusive relationships recognise the signs and seek help.

Sporting success

We always knew our team was driven to succeed at work, so it’s no surprise that this same drive has seen them succeed away from the office, too.

In 2024, we were very proud to sponsor Solicitor Apprentice Freddy Wharton as he played for his rugby team, Ripon RUFC.

In October, Paralegal Laura Martin also showed fantastic grit and determination by competing in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships.

We want the team to succeed in whatever they put their minds to. We wish Laura and Freddy all the best for their sporting endeavours in 2025!

Continued growth of the team and the firm

2024 has seen continued growth of our Harrogate Family Law team. We’ve welcomed several new talented people throughout the year, and we can’t wait to see the difference they’ll make to their clients throughout 2025.

We’re full of positivity about 2025 and ready to support and advise our clients to the highest possible standard.

In the meantime, we wish you a very happy new year and all the best for 2025.

If this is the year you need to make a change to your future and would like to discuss your options, we’re always here to help
